Trimming The Sails

Mounque's extensive knowledge lets him employ various techniques to determine which ones the client responds to best. He then develops an individual therapy program for each client.

Each individual's soft tissue response to somatic techniques and routines is different. Mounque uses a variety of techniques learned over his 40+ years in the field.

The body's muscles are like the sheets of a sail; properly trimmed, the sail performs its best.

The whole body is held together by connective tissue and fascia, which is a three dimensional web that covers us from head to toe.  Both get adhesions, binding up muscles and causing pain.

Mounque believes that the body's soft tissue systems, (muscles, fascia and connective) are the key to a longer, healthier life, reduced pain and improved performance. Many of his techniques and special routines for the neck, shoulders, lower back and hips directly free them up.

"Muscles have memories. If you do not use them fully they lose their original identity and become adaptive in posture. First you get the muscle's attention and then you begin to help it remember its original function. When it travels its full distance, it has the most power. It is the basic physics of velocity

Mounque is a big believer in re-educating the muscles so they change the adaptive postures that cause knots and pain.

Techniques include Swedish Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) encompassing,  Trigger Points, Muscle Energy, Deep Tissue, Fascial Release, Somatic Movement, and Flexibility Stretches..
